(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Mikati said in a meeting with Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in Beirut on Saturday “All our efforts are to keep Lebanon distant from the consequences of regional events and challenges, and we hope that people of Syria would be able to pass through this stage with the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the political plans that are presented for this purpose.”
For his part, the Iranian official emphasized that the situation in Syria was improving and that the armed groups and insurgents were getting closer to defeat every single day.
Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs also stated that Tehran supports the prudent stance of the Syrian people and endorses the reforms implemented by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Amir-Abdollahian also referred to the US media war about the existence of chemical weapons in Syria, noting that these are only media claims made in line with the political goals of the United State and other enemies of the Syrian government and nation.
